Board Statement - October 7, 2020
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” Ecclesiastes 3:1
Dear Friends of Center Lake
As many of you are aware this past year at Center Lake Bible Camp has not been a normal one. As with many camps, Center Lake has been significantly impacted by the covid-19 crisis. At the same time Center Lake has been working through the process of choosing it’s next director to take the camp forward. The staff has worked hard through these past several months to continue serving those limited groups and individuals that have come to Center Lake Bible camp.
As Center Lake concludes its fall schedule the Camp Board of Directors has decided to suspend hosting retreats, and groups through this coming winter. Although a difficult decision, the Board feels that this is the most appropriate option for the long term success of the camp. During this pause the Center Lake Board will be working to assure that camp is ready to welcome campers for summer 2021. Due to activities at camp being suspended during the winter season staffing levels will be reduced and the camp office will be working limited hours. This is a difficult time for the staff and we ask that you keep them in your prayers
For over 60 years Center Lake has been welcoming campers for a week long Christian camping experience. We look forward to the exciting things that God has planned for the future of Center Lake!

Letter from the Board - July 2020
Recently, Center Lake Bible Camp celebrated 60 years of effective ministry. Little did we know then that we would soon be facing such challenging times. The coronavirus pandemic has had a significant impact on camps around the country, including Center Lake. Our goal remains to advance God’s kingdom with a vibrant and effective camping and retreat ministry, but we need your help to navigate this unprecedented storm and thrive again on the other side of it.
In response to our greatly reduced income we have cut costs wherever possible including the recent reduction of most of our staff to 20% of their regular hours. Despite their reduced hours, the staff has been working hard to book outside rental groups for the remainder of the summer. We also benefited from temporary funding from Converge MidAmerica and some churches and individuals are donating the funds they would have used for summer camp or camp scholarships.
The opportunities are great but the need is urgent. To navigate the rough waters ahead, we need to raise $250,000 to carry us through until the next summer season. These funds would allow us to continue an effective ministry through the fall and winter, prepare for a renewed spring and summer, and hire a permanent camp director that can lead us into the future. We will need the generosity of many people to reach this goal. Will you help us by making a generous donation to Center Lake Bible Camp by September 1? You can donate at www.centerlake.org/giving or by using the enclosed envelope.
In addition to giving we ask that you:
Share this urgent need with your church missions team and other individuals.
Pray for the camp staff who have been greatly impacted yet continue to serve with diligence and creativity.
Pray for the guest groups and individuals who are continuing to use the camp in a limited capacity.
Pray for a camp director who will lead us through these challenging times.
Thank God for the generous gift that helped us reroof the chapel this summer.
If you have any questions or want more information about how you can help Center Lake move forward you can contact the camp, our Interim Camp Director, Tim Woelkers (586.634.8697) or reach out to me directly.
Thank you for your love for the Lord and CLBC.
